Headless Sanity Developer for Australian Teams

Headless Sanity developer for Australian teams

Sanity Studio v3, GROQ, content modeling done right. Working APAC hours. EU-incorporated, AUD or EUR invoicing.

Why a Sanity specialist matters

Sanity is the best headless CMS for teams that take content seriously. It's also the easiest to set up badly. Schema decisions made in week one become permanent migration headaches in year two. References vs portable text vs blocks, draft workflows, live preview, role-based permissions: each is a tradeoff that benefits from someone who's shipped it before.

I've built and rescued Sanity projects across policy, healthcare and Web3 clients. I model for the editor's experience first, not the developer's convenience.

What I do

  • Schema design. Content types that make sense for editors, not just for queries.
  • Studio customization. Custom inputs, structure builder, preview panes.
  • GROQ queries. Optimized for performance, parameterized properly, no N+1 surprises.
  • Live preview integration. Next.js draft mode, preview deployments.
  • Migrations. From WordPress, Contentful, Strapi, or from broken Sanity setups left by previous developers.
  • Content backfills. Migration scripts that don't lose data.

Proof, not promises

  • CeHDI (policy, multilingual): Sanity + Next.js + Vercel, multilingual schema, rescued from a failed handover. Now live at cehdi.org.
  • Flowrence (healthcare platform): content modeling for a regulated multi-tenant SaaS.

How engagements work

  • Hourly or fixed-scope. Two to six week scopes for typical Sanity work.
  • Invoice in AUD, EUR or USD.
  • I'll quote a content audit before any rebuild. Half the time the existing schema is salvageable.
  • Async-first, daily standup available on request.

FAQ

Sanity vs Contentful vs Payload? Sanity wins for content-heavy editorial work with complex relationships. Contentful for marketing teams who want guardrails. Payload for full-control self-hosted setups. I'll tell you which fits, not just sell what I want to build.

Studio v2 or v3? v3, always. If you're on v2, migrating is usually a 1 to 2 week job, and the editor improvements are worth it.

Multilingual content? Yes. CeHDI runs three languages with proper i18n. Most Sanity multilingual setups are wrong; I've fixed enough of them to know the patterns that scale.
